Mike Tyson set to take his stage show on the road

11/28/2012

10:39PM EST November  28. 2012 - Apparently,
we haven't heard the last of Mike Tyson yet. The former heavyweight champion's
stint on Broadway this past summer -- a one-man show written by his wife, Kiki
Tyson, and directed by Spike Lee -- was one of the year's greater theatrical
curiosities. Now comes word that Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth will launch
a 10-week tour in February.

Tyson, who first made the announcement Tuesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live, is
poised to bring his verbal punches to 36 cities, starting in Indianapolis and
moving through Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and Washington, D.C. So for you people that like to get autographs this may

 Henry Armstrong 100th Birthday 12-12-12

11/27/2012

Picture
For those that are not familar with Henry Armstrong, he is probably one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Henry Jr. was a boxer who not only was a member of the exclusive group of
fighters that have won boxing championships in three or more different divisions
(at a time when there were only 8 universally recognized World Titles), but also
has the distinction of being the only boxer to hold three world championships at
the same time. He also defended the Welterweight Championship more times than any
other fighter. Thanks to the henry armstrong  foundation

What's Next for Adrien Broner? Top 5  opponets

11/21/2012

I just love watching this guy fight. He is so much fun I almost forget about Manny's fights. I love this article, thought I would share...

Adrien Broner announced himself as the fighter to beat at 135 pounds when he  trounced WBC titleholder Antonio DeMarco on Saturday, November 17, at Boardwalk  Hall in Atlantic City. It was a breakout performance for the talented,  undefeated fighter from Cincinnati - even though, as I have angrily
written
, this was nothing like Floyd Mayweather's win over Diego
Corrales.   But I digress. Now that he's a titleholder and the top guy at Lightweight,  who should he fight next? Here's a look at the top 5 opponents for Adrien Broner  at this point in time.

1. Brandon Rios

Want a fight that's at least somewhat comparable to Mayweather vs.
Corrales? This fits the bill.

Rios has recently moved up to Junior Welterweight, but I'd bet that Broner
is on his way to that division in short order as well. There aren't any big
names left at 135 pounds, and Broner is looking to pile up titles and earn big
bucks. His stay at Lightweight will be short lived, and if he wants to make a
splash at 140 pounds like he did at 135, then targeting somebody like the
unbeaten Rios is the way to do it.

2. Winner of Danny Garcia vs. Zab Judah

It looks like Danny Garcia will defend his WBA and WBC Junior Welterweight
titles against Zab Judah in early
2013
. The young champion will be the favorite to win the bout,
but Judah, on his home turf, should provide a legit challenge.

If Garcia emerges victorious, Broner vs. Garcia would be a juicy fight
between two of the top, young and unbeaten American fighters in the game. If
Judah wins, the Broner-Judah press conferences, ring walks and other festivities
would have enough entertainment value all on their own to warrant making the
bout as quickly as possible.

3. Lucas Matthysse

Another top fighter at Junior Welterweight, Lucas Matthysse has the kind of
game-changing power and limitless aggression that ensures no fight is ever
completely out of reach. Therefore, he's a perfect foil for the skill, speed and
flash of Broner. Matthysse has been beaten twice, although both of those
verdicts were disputed losses that came in his opponent's backyard - a decision
to Zab Judah in Newark, NJ, and a decision to Devon Alexander near St.
Louis.

4. Winner of Miguel Vazquez vs. Mercito Gesta

This is the first potential fight on this list that includes an opponent at
135 pounds. To be completely honest, the entire top 5 could consist of fighters
at Junior Welterweight, but considering Broner is likely to stick around
Lightweight for at least a few fights, we may as well discuss the top choices
for him in his current division.

Vazquez has been the IBF Lightweight titleholder for several years, and
he's slated to defend that strap against the unbeaten Gesta on the undercard of
the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez 4 event. The winner of the fight will
either be a longtime, well-established champion, or a fellow unbeaten with
plenty to prove. Either way, Vazquez or Gesta, it's a logical choice for
Broner.

5. Ricky Burns

The Scottish sensation Ricky Burns, that's "Rickster" to you, has been on a
roll since he made his debut at Lightweight last year. He's reeled off three
quality wins in quick succession - Michael Katsidis, Paulus Moses and Kevin
Mitchell, and holds the WBO title in the division.

If Broner dared, he could fill up an
arena in the UK and meet Burns on his own turf. Even without taking that step
though, Broner vs. Burns is an attractive match to make and would offer a
compelling clash of styles, personalities and backgrounds.

Top 10 boxers under 25

11/21/2012

I love to see the younger guys coming up. This is great to see who will be the next Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather.

Tired of hearing about the decline and death of boxing? How about the
constant gripe that all of the sport's greatest stars are in their late 30s and
early 40s? The fact of the matter is that there are plenty of young lions ready
to take the place of the established stars.

Here are ten outstanding young fighters who are quickly making their way to
the top of the sport and, best of all, have yet to even reach their physical and professional primes:

 Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KOs), Age: 23
"The Problem" is already a two-division world champion and is being
regarded as one of the sport's top young talents. His recent total domination of defending WBC lightweight champ, Antonio DeMarco, has put Broner on the path to  stardom and a talent-heavy 135-140 lb. weight range awaits. If the charismatic  boxer can keep focused and active, there's no reason to doubt his ability to  eventually become a top two or three pound-for-pound fighter.

Saul Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KOs), Age: 22

Alvarez, the defending WBC world junior
middleweight champion, has taken his fair share of criticism for his well-paved  path to glory and some less-than-stellar title challenges recently. But take away the world title belt and you'll find a talented young talent developing  into a well-rounded star. "El Canelo" has been fairly protected up until now-- as most young prospects are-- but every indication is that he wants to take a major step up in competition this coming year.

Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KOs), Age: 24

The WBA and WBC junior welterweight champion has firmly established himself  as one of the top fighters in the sport with recent wins over Amir Khan, Erik  Morales, and Kendall Holt. The Philadelphia native has surprised more than a few  experts by fighting his way to the top of the stacked 140 lb. division. Next up  for Garcia will be a defense against former two-division world champ, Zab Judah  in February.

Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KOs), Age:
24

At 6' 9", Fury definitely makes for an imposing figure to someday challenge
one of the Klitschko brothers. Still needing some world class experience before  going for either Klitscho, Fury is developing at a nice pace and has put away  some solid regional talent. On December 1, Fury takes his first step on to the  world stage when he faces "Kingpin" Kevin Johnson. If victorious, Johnson will  be added to a growing resume of conquered opposition that includes fighters like  Dereck Chisora and Martin Rogan.

Leo Santa Cruz (22-0-1, 13 KOs), Age: 24

A joy to watch for hardcore fans, Mexico's  Santa Cruz displays perfect technique and a level of ring composure well beyond  his age. Already the defending IBF bantamweight champ, "Terremoto (Earthquake)"  will find plenty of challenges in the 118-122 lb. weight range.

Miguel Angel Garcia (30-0, 26 KOs), Age: 24

Calm, cool, and collected, Garcia picks his opponents apart before lowering
the boom. Wins over Bernabe Concepcion and Matt Remillard have earned "Mikey" a  January world title shot at old school, veteran WBO featherweight champ, Orlando  Salido.

George Groves (15-0, 12 KOs), Age: 24

Best known for his win over long-time rival and Olympic gold medalist,
James DeGale, Groves has come along slowly in his development as a top super  middleweight. On December 15, the fighter from London takes a step up in class  when facing veteran road warrior, Glen Johnson.

Javier Fortuna (20-0, 15 KOs), Age: 23

The native of the Dominican Republic is still a relative unknown,
but recent dominant wins over Miguel Roman, Yuandale Evans, and Cristobal Cruz  should mark him as one of the sport's future stars. Fortuna will take his first  step toward a world title when he faces Patrick Hyland for the interim WBA World  featherweight title on the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez IV undercard.

Kazuto Ioka (10-0, 6 KOs), Age: 23

Already a two-belt world champ, the ten-fight pro from Japan
rules over the strawweight division as its consensus top fighter. With plenty of  career ahead of him, Ioka will continue to try and defend his WBC and WBA world  titles and, possibly, look to annex a third or fourth belt along the way.

Thomas Oosthuizen (21-0-1, 13 KOs), Age: 24

At first sight, South Africa's "Tommy Gunn" appears to be a run
of the mill regional talent hyped to the nth degree by a nationalistic
home-country media. On second look, though, Oosthuizen has some solid skills and  the growing ring record to prove it. Although nothing Earth-hattering, the
young super middleweight's resume includes wins over fighters like William Gare,
Aaron Pryor Jr., and Fulgencio Zuniga.

Judge blocks sale of some Holyfield memorabilia

11/21/2012

A federal judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked the sale of a dozen items from
Evander Holyfield's boxing career during an upcoming auction of hundreds of
personal items and memorabilia amassed by the former heavyweight champion.
The restricted items include Holyfield's robes from his first fight with Mike Tyson and his Olympic bronze medal.
Holyfield had sought to limit the sale of 20 items during an auction on Nov. 30
that is being organized by Julien's Auctions and will still feature several
robes and other gear Holyfield wore during his fighting career.

Holyfield faces irreparable harm if the items are sold, U.S. District Court
Judge Christina A. Snyder ruled, but the former boxer may have to post a bond to
keep the items from being sold as he continues to argue his case that the items
should be returned. The exact amount will be determined later.

Manny Pacquiao preparing for the December 8 bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas

11/21/2012

So can Manny " Pacman" Pacquiao pullout a victory? Let us hope he can in the upcoming fight Dec.8th. I am looking forward to it. In the meantime fans can get a glipse of him training at his usual training facility.

Good Luck Manny!
